The new messiah, Kenny Whitley, has retreated to Miami after his journey through the Rampant Wastes of the Lower Realms. He lives with his brother, Malcolm, and deals with family life while having to tell his younger brother and deeply religious parents about his powers and role for the world. He has given up on helping the world after a rift between his Protector, friends and family. Overcome with dread from is health, anger and impatience, Kenny isolates himself further in his mind but has unwanted help from Abrian, who is able to read his thoughts.

The Leviathan, having fed on a piece of Kenny's body crystal, resurrects herself as Nephthys and is able to chain Murad, who is now merged with the entity Dark-El by her hand. She proceeds to invade Earth by way of the crack in its Core but is stopped by Gaia, Host of the Soul Seed of Nature. But her spirit escapes to find the key for Death Door and reigns terror on the surface with tsunamis, earthquakes and captures Kenny's family in the Core. She also ambushes his friends; Tonya, Johnson, Jerry and Theodore, cursing them to wander the center of the Earth.

Now, Kenny journeys to the Core of the Earth to save everyone with guidance from Gaia, Percy, Abrian and the Protectors. He and Christian are forced to deal with the erosion of their relationship through their expedition of the sectors of the Center of the Earth. Along the way, they meet the Nymph Princess Artemis, who aids them in battle against the one of the Great Demons; Necromancer. The oldest Wyvern is able to animate the Navigator's Journal and teaches Kenny about the destruction of the 6 Paradise Stars as well as Pangea; the shared home of the Vampyres and "the walking Divine" at the birth of Sapiens. Garamel, a gargoyle who is a loyal spy to Gaia, guides them to the Core.

Dark secrets are revealed during a final confrontation with the Leviathan and forces Kenny to choose between his soul seed to create the key or the death of everyone he loves.

 

There are dinosaurs, angels, goblins and fairies. We also meet the new Maharaja, William.
